4. Disarm Pakistan – a fragile dictatorship teaming with fanatics that actually has weapons of mass destruction.
3. Address the Afghanistans of tomorrow – Somalia and the Sudan: desperately poor, anarchic hotbeds of fanaticism that could produce or shelter the next Bin Laden.
2. Approach Iran in a way that empowers the reformers and shows solidarity with the overwhelmingly pro-American population.
1. Articulate clear goals and priorities for the “War on Terror” that the American people and the rest of the world will understand are truly principles, not justifications for ulterior motives.
