Seeing the Real You at Last
Not much time today, so I'll just say that the Bob Dylan documentary "No Direction Home" playing on PBS last night and tonight is beyond awesome. When I was younger, I was a hardcore Dylan fanatic. I had all the albums and all the bootlegs I could find (and there are lots). I would have, in the words of the master, crawled a hundred miles over cut glass, to have seen this show. Well, my fanaticism may be in remission, but the thrill and satisfaction of finally seeing all the great footage of classic Dylan performances from the early 60s (including the legendary, never-seen 1966 tour with the Band) was undiminished. We all knew that stuff was out there, and we wondered when someone would make "No Direction Home." Well, Martin Scorcese has. And he's done it right. Can't wait for part 2 tonight.
